| Hey, I just got back from my Everest Base Camp trip. If you want to check out some of my photos Click Here | | |
| Today Curtis and I were walking down the road. I was explaining to him how during the warmer part of the year I wear mostly flip-flops and you really have to be careful where you step. Because there are so many dogs, goats, cows and even people using the road as a latrine I was telling him you really have to watch your step or you might step in something. I told him about a time when i stepped in a big pile and got it all up in my toes. Right as I said this we passed a man that was sitting on the side of the road begging. Curtis looked over at him and said to me "at least you have toes". Sure enough, the man's feet lacked toes. Good point Curtis. | | |
| My whole family is about to arrive in Nepal! I am so excited and a little nervous also. I havent seen them in a year. All seven of them are coming (including my sisters husbands). We are going to a quick tour of Nepal, in only four days.
By the way, my new profile picture is of me and my sister when we were young. She is my best friend, I am especially excited to see her.
| There is this false world that we exist in outside of the real world and it is called "the Internet". And every now and then these two worlds bump up against each other unexpectedly. I for one take for granted the thought that this "Xanga community" that I am part of should for the most part stay where it belongs, on my computer screen. But like I said every so often these two worlds collide. Let me give an example:
The other day I was at this coffee shop here in Nepal, taking some time to relax and enjoy a book. There I was minding my own business reading my book when I see another foreigner walk in and sit straight in front of me. I usually avoid talking with other foreigners because they are always asking all kinds of questions and always want to compare who has been there the longest and stupid stuff like that. So I had forgotten that this girl was there, when all of a sudden there she is standing right in front of me. I look over my book, trying to act bothered, and she says to me "Do I know you?"
No I didn't know her, and honestly I didn't really want to get to know her. I tried to give her one word answers to show that I wasnt interested in talking. But then she goes on to say "Oh, I know where I know you from, I saw your xanga site." Creepy.
I'm ok with people that I don't know reading my site and commenting on it or whatever. But when I meet one of these people in person its really weird. It feels like you are meeting someone that has been spying on you or something.
Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? Currah, I know you do.

I spent the last few days at one of my good friend, Deepak Shrestha's house in the village. Here is a picture of his whole family and me. As you can tell, I dont really blend in with the locals very well. Deepak is Newar, which is a people group in Nepal. They (Newars) have to be the greatest people in the world I think.
I was probably the first foreigner to come and stay in this village, so I was quite the site for everyone. Especially when I would go to the community water tap and wash up and brush my teeth with everyone else.
And if you have kept up with all of the body parts from the water buffalo that I have eaten, I have some more to add to the list: ear, fried blood, cheek, stomach, and skin. Oh and I cant forget the mystery part that Deepak describes like this "its the part after the stomach that filters the shit" and then says "this part is really tasty". Mmmmmmmm.
This is the village, Chitlang.
